Intelligent Octopus Go off-peak hours
Whole home 23:30–05:30 at 8p/kWh (8.4p until 1 Oct), plus up to six smart EV hours per 24h.
Intelligent Octopus Go is a time-of-use tariff with a cheap overnight block for the whole home, plus Octopus-managed smart charging for your EV. It is not the same as plain Octopus Go, which is a simpler cheap overnight window without Intelligent’s app-led scheduling.

The whole-home window
The house gets up to six hours of off-peak pricing overnight: 23:30 to 05:30. Kettle, heat pump, charger, standby: everything on the meter in that window pays the off-peak rate, currently 8p/kWh (8.4p/kWh until 1 Oct).
That is the predictability pitch. You know the overnight rate. You do not watch 48 half-hours.
Smart EV hours and Charge Cap
In the Octopus app you set a charge target and a ready-by time. Octopus can then schedule up to six hours of smart EV charging in each 24-hour period (midday to midday) at the off-peak rate.
Those smart slots can fall outside the 23:30–05:30 overnight window. When they do, the home can still get the discounted rate for that period, within the tariff’s allowance.
Charge Cap is an Octopus app toggle. It stops the EV once that 6-hour smart-charging allowance is used, before expensive rates kick in. The whole-home overnight window stays separate. Charge Cap does not delete 23:30–05:30; it caps extra smart EV hours after the 6-hour allowance.
Compatibility
Intelligent Go needs a smart meter and a compatible EV or charger. Octopus keeps a live checker on the Intelligent Octopus Go page. Andersen chargers are listed there; treat Octopus as the source of truth, not this page.
Go vs Agile, in one line
Pick Go if you want a known cheap night and Octopus to schedule the car. Pick Agile if you can shift load into half-hourly prices (including Plunge Pricing that can go below zero), or automate that shift. Full comparison: Octopus Agile vs Intelligent Octopus Go.
Ember does not run Intelligent Go. Ember automation is for Agile, Tesla + iPhone only.
